Abstract:

The diagnosis of oncological disease in children is a life event that causes anguish and requires parents to be aware of the disease and adjust to a new reality. Physical, mental, financial, and work problems, isolation and family dysfunctionality emerge. Grandparents show double suffering as they are a fundamental element of family support, helping in instrumental, care, and financial activities, and supporting to the other family members. The effectiveness of web-based interventions has been shown to reduce anxiety, uncertainty, distress and improve parents' and grandparents' social support and information. This study aims to understand the needs of parents and grandparents of children with oncological disease and develop psychoeducational interventions through digital content allowing for the development of instrumental and emotional management skills of parents and grandparents, promoting autonomy participation, and abilities.
