Andreia Oliveira

Andreia Oliveira (PharmD) received her PhD (Pharmaceutical Sciences; Phytochemistry and Pharmacognosy Speciality) by the Faculty of Pharmacy from the University of Porto (FFUP) in December 2012. She is (co)-author of 38 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals, being first author in 15 of those papers. Her main research and collaborative works have been presented at national and international conferences, as poster (53) and oral (14) communications. She has contributed to some R&D project calls promoted by national and international entities and now she is researcher of the funded project (FCT): PTDC/BAA-AGR/1391/2020. Additionally, she has co(supervised) several students of the Integrated Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The publication record states that her main expertise is the chemical characterization of natural products, in particular of medicinal plants, using hyphenated chromatographic techniques (e.g., LC-MSn and GC-MS), particularly mastering the structure elucidation of secondary metabolites. She has also a rock-solid expertise on the characterization of pharmacological and biological properties, including the elucidation of modes of action, being particularly focused on targets involved on the inflammatory response and other biological routes that underlie the development and progression of diseases with an inflammatory background. Her robust know-how covers cell-free and cell-based techniques and methods to characterize mechanisms of anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticancer and antidiabetic effects.
