Cláudia Ribeiro

Cláudia Maria Rosa Ribeiro (CR) has a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences. Since the beginning of the PhD, the scientific activity has been related to the development of analytical methodologies either by liquid and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry for the analysis of various substances as endocrine disrupting compounds, pharmaceuticals and illicit drugs and in various matrices (water, sediments, and biological matrices) and their ecotoxicity effects in various ecological relevant organisms. Recently, she has been evaluating the enantioselective effects of various pharmaceuticals and illicit drugs in the protozoan Tetrahymena thermophila, the crustacean Daphnia magna and in fish, Danio rerio. CR has a significant expertise in Analytical Chemistry and Environmental Monitoring and Ecotoxicity with various works published or ongoing. Her research interests include the development of analytical methods both achiral and chiral for analysis of micropollutants in environmental matrices; sample preparation procedures for the analysis of various compounds in various matrices (water, wastewater, sediments and biota); ecotoxicological assays for evaluation of toxicity of environmental pollutants and for risk assessment. CR is assistant Professor at the University Institute of Health Sciences here she is the regent of various curricular units in the area of the chemical laboratorial techniques and analytical instrumental methodologies. She is member of the scientific council of research line Drug research at Institute of Research and Advanced Training in Health Sciences and Technologies (IINFACTS). She is supervisor of various masters students and PhD student (from the Doctoral program in Biological Sciences Applied to Health, IUCS). She has been participating as team member and principal investigator in various research projects and currently she has secured funding as PI in a competitive FCT call for a project related to enantioselective ecotoxicology (PTDC/CTA-AMB/6686/2020). She has two book chapters and various scientific publications in oral and poster conference and in peer reviewed international scientific journals. CR has been referee of several peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings.
