Rui Valdiviesso is a PhD in Clinical Nutrition, a MSc in Biology and a BSc in Nutritional Sciences. He is an Invited Assistant Professor in FCNAUP - Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto, and a Doctorate Integrated researcher in CINTESIS - Center for Health Technology and Services Research. Experience in previous research projects includes the roles of Assistant Researcher in the project Nutrition UP 65: nutritional strategies for an ageing demography, Researcher in the project Deus ex Machina: symbiotic technology for societal efficiency gains, and post-doctoral fellow in the NUTRIC/HEALTH-UNORTE project (CINTESIS/FCNAUP). His PhD thesis was titled: Frailty and Sarcopenia in Portuguese Heart Failure Patients - nutritional, functional and clinical associated factors, wherein handgrip strength is extensively studied and discussed in association with disease severity and nutritional status.
