External Advisory Committee

The External Advisory Committee meets annually to provide independent evaluation and advice on the scientific activity and unit organization. Currently it integrates three distinguished international scientists.
Short bio:

Félix Carvalho, PharmD (1990), PhD (1998), is Full Professor of Toxicology, at the Laboratory of Toxicology, Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Porto (FFUP), and researcher of the Research Unit on Applied Molecular Biosciences (UCIBIO) at REQUIMTE, Portugal. He is presently Vice-director of UCIBIO, President of the Scientific Council of FFUP, President of the Portuguese Society of Pharmacology, and President-elect of EUROTOX (Association of European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology). Félix Carvalho is also European Expert of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), Member of the Committee for Evaluation of Medicines at the National Authority of Medicines and Health Products, I.P. (INFARMED), member of the Nanomaterials Expert Group (NMEG) of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), and participates in the editorial board of several scientific journals. His main area of research is Toxicology, with a special interest in Mechanistic Toxicology.

Short bio:

Nuno Oliveira is an Associate Professor with Aggregation (Pharmacy, Toxicology) at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Medicines. He holds a PhD in Pharmacy (Toxicology), MSc in Food Quality Control and Toxicology and a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Licenciatura). Specialist in Human Genetics (OF) and European Registered Toxicologist (ERT, EUROTOX). He has been interested in different aspects of Toxicology, including the study of the mechanisms of toxicity and DNA damage & repair induced by chemotherapeutic drugs and food/environmental genotoxic agents. He is also interested in the field of DNA repair inhibitors and SOD mimics. Integrated member of iMed.ULisboa since 2007.
